Congratulations are in order for the Barack Obama for President delegates selected by caucus vote yesterday to attend the Denver Democratic Party Convention in August.

Rebecca Prozan, London Breed and Brian Wang each won the prestigious honor of representing the 8th Congressional District. Supervisor Chris Daly, coming off the flu and a week of supporting liberty for the people of Tibet, also earned his welcome on the convention floor as an alternate delegate.

Some of you may be asking, who is Brain Wang? According to Paul Hogarth over at BeyondChron, Wang has earned his stripes working as an Asian-American outreach worker for Obama. He’s also a quite the poet and moved several undecided voters following a recital of a poem he penned just hours before the caucus meeting:

“O Mama”
By Brian Wang

Why do I support Barack Obama?

Because of my Mama! She’s my Dalai Lama,
shielding me from trauma, putting me in pajamas,
it’s no wonder my relationships are destined for drama
I asked her, after a recent debate,
whether she could relate to our favorite candidate
She told me she voted for Jesse Jackson in ’88
and a racist co-worker filled with hate, asked her,
“Why would you negate your voice, your weight, on an African American head of state?”
And my Mama said simply:
“If Jesse can run and be the one,
then maybe someday, so can my son.”

Before the 687 votes were counted, delegate nominees were afforded a 30-second window to help persuade undecided caucus attendees to vote for them. One nominee said she’s waited 60 years for a candidate like Barack Obama to come along. Another nominee said Barack Obama changed his life.

Fog City Journal is hoping to cadge a ride to Denver in the spirit of the Blues Brothers. After Denver we’re heading for Obama’s home state, to Sweet Home Chicago. We’ll need money, lots of it, so don’t be shy about clicking on the donate button to your left.
