Cake to Perform Live Benefit Concert
for SF Clean Energy Act

From the Proposition H, San Francisco Clean Energy Act, campaign

September 24, 2008

The band CAKE announced Tuesday that it will play a benefit for Proposition H, the 100 percent clean energy measure on San Francisco’s November ballot. Prop H will make San Francisco the first major city in the world to require 100 percent clean energy for its electricity supply.

CAKE’s music is often classified as “alternative” or “indie” rock, but the band draws from various musical genres, such as funk, soul, jazz, rap, and country. CAKE is currently producing their sixth album of original songs. All the tracks will be recorded using 100 percent solar energy. Earlier this year the band installed a solar array on the roof of their studio in Sacramento.

CAKE’s solar page can be viewed here:

“Although there is little hope for the future of humans on the earth, this proposition adds mightily to our paltry supply,” states the band’s lead vocalist John McCrea.

CAKE will perform at the Independent on Friday, October 10 at 9pm. All proceeds will benefit the Yes on H campaign. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 24th at noon. Tickets available at:
