Mirkarimi Co-Endorses in D6
An advocate of ranked-choice voting, Mirkarimi said he co-endorsed School Board President Jane Kim and Building Inspections Commissioner Debra Walker. Both Kim and Walker are considered the leading progressive candidates in the race for the open seat.

Hall to Declare Mayoral Candidacy
Hall joins termed out Supervisor Bevan Dufty and City Attorney Dennis Herrera as the only electeds so far to have declared candidacies for the open seat. State Senators Leland Yee and Mark Leno; District Attorney Kamala Harris; Supervisors Ross Mirkarimi and Michela Alioto-Pier; and former Board of Supervisors President Matt Gonzalez; are also rumored to be considering candidacies.

SFBG to Post Meko Sit/Lie Correction
In the this week’s long-anticipated endorsements issue, the SFBG states, “Jim Meko, a longtime neighborhood and community activist, has good credentials and some solid ideas. He was a key player in the western SoMa planning project and helped come up with a truly progressive land-use program for the neighborhood. But he supports sit-lie and is awfully cranky about local bars and nightlife.”

Ethics Commission Raises Supe Races Spending Caps
A candidate running for the Board of Supervisors who seeks public funding must abide by his or her Individual Expenditure Ceiling, which begins at $143,000, and may be raised in increments of $10,000 based on the sum of opposition spending against the participating candidate and the total supportive funds of the candidate’s opponents. A candidate is required to file Form SFEC- 152(a)-2 within 24 hours of receiving contributions or making expenditures that equal or exceed $100,000 and for every $10,000 thereafter. Any person making independent expenditures, electioneering communications, or member communications that clearly identify a candidate for the Board of Supervisors is required to file the Third Party Disclosure form within 24 hours of each time the person spends $5,000 or more per candidate.

Overheard in Fog City: Kim Co-Endorses in D6
Of the leading progressive candidates in the ranked choice race, a list that includes Keys, Kim, Jim Meko and Debra Walker, Walker is so far the only candidate to not endorse a fellow progressive candidate. She was the only D6 candidate to receive the powerful San Francisco Democratic Party endorsement.
