Community organizer James Keys announced today his endorsements in the IRV race to succeed termed out District 6 Supervisor Chris Daly.<\/p>\n

“I have made a decision as to the IRV of the District 6 race,” Keys, a progressive candidate endorsed by Daly, said in a statement. “There are concerns regarding the District 6 seat being won by a progressive candidate and I have had discussions with some of the candidates regarding this. In watching each of the campaigns I see Ms. (Jane) Kim and Ms. (Debra) Walker’s campaign as the two other strongest campaigns. It is for this reason that I would endorse both campaigns as number 2.”<\/p>\n

Keys said progressive voters will decide whether Kim or Walker are ranked second or third, adding the number two ranked choice will have more impact on the final outcome than the third choice.<\/p>\n

Asked whether discussions between Keys and the Kim and Walker campaigns<\/a> has resulted in Kim or Walker committing to a ranked choice endorsement, Keys said Walker told Keys via text message she\u00a0 “is not interested in making deals with multiple candidates,” but is willing to talk to Keys.<\/p>\n
