Theresa Sparks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Human Rights Commission Executive Director Theresa Sparks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2010\/05\/08\/DD2L1D8NVH.DTL\">makes no secret<\/a> her life story includes physically transitioning from a man to a woman.\u00a0 Yet, she was considered the most conservative candidate in the November race for District 6 supervisor.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2544\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-2544\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Human Rights Commission Executive Director Theresa Sparks.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><strong>4.\u00a0Kimo Crossman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Open government advocate Kimo Crossman <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20100324191850\/http:\/\/abclocal.go.com:80\/kgo\/story?section=news\/local\/san_francisco&amp;id=7344951\">blew the whistle<\/a> on San Francisco\u2019s Assessor\u2019s Office in March when he discovered it had failed to collect $3.5 million in property transfer tax from Morgan Stanley.\u00a0 That\u2019s more than half the amount Fix Muni supporters boasted saving the city by eliminating worker health care, and it goes directly into the general fund.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2545\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2545\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2545\" title=\"kimo_crossman\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fogcityjournal.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/plugins\/2010\/12\/kimo_crossman.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fogcityjournal.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/plugins\/2010\/12\/kimo_crossman.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.fogcityjournal.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/plugins\/2010\/12\/kimo_crossman-300x252.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2545\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kimo Crossman.  Photo via Facebook.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0David Chiu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supervisor David Chiu is enjoying the catbird seat in San Francisco\u2019s countdown to an interim mayor for San Francisco.\u00a0 As Board President, he will automatically become acting mayor when Gavin Newsom is sworn in as state Lieutenant Governor, and could remain so indefinitely if he can prevent the Board of Supervisors from agreeing on the selection of an interim mayor.\u00a0 So far he successfully delayed the current Board from discussing potential candidates by diverting attention to discussion of a process for making the choice instead.\u00a0 Next hurdles are the last meeting of the politically divided current Board then the new Board sworn in on January 8th.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fogcityjournal.com\/images\/photos2010\/bos_20101116\/_w2w5946_std.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Board of Supervisors President David Chiu.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>2. Jeff Adachi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No one in San Francisco expected a politically taboo pension reform measure to be placed on the November ballot by the unquestionably progressive Public Defender Jeff Adachi.\u00a0 Adachi bravely endured the backlash and now the whole country is talking painful pension reform.\u00a0 As a successful public defender, Adachi is used to presenting hard realities to his clients and pension reform was no exception.\u00a0 When those who opposed his version get a glimpse of the government\u2019s version, they\u2019ll wish they had heeded his warning.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fogcityjournal.com\/images\/photos2010\/sf_smart_reform_adachi_gonzalez_20100626\/_w2w6029_std.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Public Defender Jeff Adachi.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0Jane Kim<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>San Francisco\u2019s progressive left elected leaders and its media spent years campaigning and colluding for DCCC member Debra Walker to replace Chris Daly as District 6 supervisor this November.\u00a0 Undaunted, School Board President Jane Kim calmly campaigned and won handily, despite Walker\u2019s \u201cearning\u201d key early endorsements before all candidates had even been qualified to run.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2546\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-2546\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">District 6 Supervisor-elect Jane Kim.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Special New Year\u2019s Eve Toasts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To Julian Assange for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fogcityjournal.com\/wordpress\/2533\/frost-interviews-julian-assange\/\">keeping the public informed<\/a> on government actions whether good, misguided, or just plain evil.\u00a0 Be certain to catch the eye-opening movie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1645089\/\"><em>Inside Job<\/em><\/a> to fully appreciate the upcoming Wikileaks release of the banking and financial sector secrets.\u00a0 It\u2019s the economic meltdown cause uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>To the surviving members of <em>The Doors<\/em> and Jim Morrison\u2019s family for telling Florida to take its pardon of Jim Morrison and shove it.\u00a0 They believe Morrison was the victim of \u201cgrandstanding ambitious politicians\u201d violating freedom of speech and deserves an apology not a pardon.\u00a0 Their <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210725145511\/https:\/\/artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com\/2010\/12\/22\/the-doors-light-one-last-fire-in-response-to-morrisons-pardon\/\">response to the pardon<\/a> for lewd behavior charges is a must read for freedom of speech advocates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Trends<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Out:\u00a0\u00a0 Political divisions by party (i.e., Democrats v.
