Mayoral contenders beware: Former District 7 Supervisor Tony Hall is expected to raise as much as $75 thousand during an upcoming campaign kickoff\u00a0dinner for his prospective run for mayor of San Francisco.<\/p>\n

Hall, who opened an exploratory committee in December to legally begin fundraising, told FCJ yesterday he is \u201ccommitted\u201d to running for mayor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t expect to have the big business, big labor, or political party backing that some other candidates are already touting, but that\u2019s OK, my focus is more about you and what you need from your City,\u201d Hall, an independent, wrote to supporters in December. \u201cI would use my experience to be a working mayor, and an honest broker who listens to all, builds the necessary consensus, and then applies the necessary administrative tools to get the job done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hall\u2019s campaign kickoff dinner<\/a> is to be held February 24 at The Regency Center. Former Board of Supervisors President Matt Gonzalez and former US Attorney Joe Russoniello are billed to provide keynote speeches. The venue has a maximum occupancy of 300.<\/p>\n

“We are friends and served on the board together,” Gonzalez said of his relationship with Hall. “During my campaign for mayor, Tony, likewise, spoke on my behalf.”<\/p>\n

Hall joins former Supervisor Bevan Dufty, City Attorney Dennis Herrera, State Senator Leland Yee, Assessor Phil Ting and former Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier as the only electeds so far to have declared candidacies for the open seat. Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and Gonzalez are also rumored to be considering mayoral candidacies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
