Come check out the Bayview Music Festival, the Health and Wellness Fair and explore new additions to the route: Dogpatch and lower Potrero Hill <\/em><\/p>\n

<\/strong>San Francisco\u2014<\/strong>The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which oversees all surface transportation in the City, including the Municipal Railway (Muni), today announced that this Sunday, June 12 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., San Francisco\u2019s Sunday Streets will return to the Bayview District. The Bayview has been a part of the Sunday Streets since the founding events in 2008. This year, the route includes the historic Dogpatch district and Lower Potrero Hill. As always, this event will feature a full roster of activities, live music, cultural performances and special events.<\/p>\n

“I am pleased to see Sunday Streets reaching into more neighborhoods and connecting more communities with each other and the rest of the city,” said San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee. “The Bayview and Lower Potrero Hill event offers a great opportunity for Bay Area residents and visitors to enjoy the many hidden treasures along this Sunday\u2019s three-mile route.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe at the SFMTA are delighted and honored to serve as the City\u2019s lead agency for Sunday Streets,\u201d said Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., SFMTA Executive Director\/CEO. \u201cThis program plays an important role in promoting sustainable transportation, revitalizing neighborhoods and connecting diverse communities across San Francisco.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the second year in a row, The Third Street Corridor Project, the Bayview Merchant Association and the Renaissance Entrepreneur Center will host the Bayview Music Festival in conjunction with Sunday Streets.\u00a0 This festival, which will feature live music, arts and local merchant exhibits and two cook-off contests, will take place on Galvez Avenue off 3rd<\/sup> Street near the Bayview Plaza.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re\u00a0excited about collaborating with Sunday Streets for the second consecutive year,\u201d said James Moore, Bayview Music Festival organizer. \u201cWe had a fantastic time joining our Bayview Music Festival in conjunction with Sunday Streets to bring together a community wide celebration to the Bayview Community. Everybody is already talking about how this year is going to be bigger and better than last year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bayview Opera House and Ruth Williams Memorial Theater, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in March, will host the fourth annual Family Health and Wellness Fair as part of Sunday Streets. Free health resources include children\u2019s dental screening and fluoride varnish treatments, thanks to the USCF School of Dentistry. California Pacific Medical Center will offer free chair massage, and UCSF will provide information for family health and dental resources. San Francisco Fire Station 49 will bring out their fire truck and join a wealth of other health programs offered throughout the day.<\/p>\n

Mendell Plaza will host the popular Free Wall interactive mural project, coordinated by the Department of Public Works and the San Francisco Arts Commission. The B-Boy Connection will offer break dance demonstrations and lessons, partnering with Classic Pedal vintage bike expo.<\/p>\n

San Francisco\u2019s spectacular bay coast is the focus of activities presented at 3rd<\/sup> and 24th<\/sup> streets near Warm Water Cove. Activities include environmental displays and special activities for kids. Rebuild Portrero will lead arts and craft programs, and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will feature the popular Freedom from Training Wheels program.<\/p>\n

Joining Sunday Streets for the first time, members of the Dogpatch community will feature several activities throughout this historic neighborhood, including a full slate of activities in Esprit Park, as well as arts and crafts, a photo booth and live music at Rickshaw Bagworks on 22nd<\/sup> and Indiana streets.<\/p>\n

At Esprit Park, David Miles brings out the mobile Funky Town Roller Disco, complete with sound systems and free skates. UCSF Police will offer crime prevention and safety tips as well as an opportunity for kids to have their pictures taken with McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog. Activities include aikido, yoga and other fitness activities for all ages hosted by the San Francisco Department of Recreation and Parks.<\/p>\n

Potrero Hill, at the northwest end of the route, joins Sunday Streets with pet photography provided by Pets in Focus and live music provided by both Bottom of the Hill (at Texas and 17th<\/sup> streets) and Thee Parkside ( at 17th<\/sup> and Wisconsin streets).<\/p>\n
