Newly-elected Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi is to face as many as three misdemeanor criminal charges related to an alleged domestic violence incident on New Year’s Eve involving his wife, Eliana Lopez.<\/p>\n
The district attorney’s office is expected to file charges of domestic violence, child endangerment and dissuading a witness, according to the Associated Press via an unidentified source.<\/p>\n
Mirkarimi and Lopez have denied any wrongdoing and will fight the charges, Mirkarimi’s spokesperson Jim Stearns told the San Francisco Chronicle.<\/p>\n
“He’s going to fight it,” Stearns said. “He and Eliana just believe there has been no incident of domestic violence.”<\/p>\n
