Citing a change in circumstances, Quintin Mecke, the former aide to Assemblymember Tom Ammiano, today withdrew his candidacy<\/a> in the race for District 5 Supervisor.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, due to an unanticipated change in circumstances with my family, I have decided to withdraw from the District 5 race for Supervisor this November,” Mecke relayed via email. “While I had hoped to focus all my energy into the race this fall, I realized that with recent events that I would be unable to move forward with the commitment that is needed to run a successful campaign over the next 4 months.”<\/p>\n

“We will be wrapping things up on the campaign in the coming days and I want to sincerely thank all of the friends, volunteers, endorsers and donors who have supported my campaign, we would not have gotten this far without you.<\/p>\n

“I look forward to working closely with you in the future to ensure that District 5 and the city of San Francisco continues to be a leader for independent, progressive politics.”<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
