Denver, CO — <\/strong>For all you California Democrats out there who are wondering why California passed in the roll call vote to decide the Democratic Nominee for President of the United States, Senator Barbara Boxer just personally conducted a series of on-the-fly briefings on the floor of the Convention for California Delegates.<\/p>\n

All state legislators – many of whom were PLEO (Pledged Elected Officials) delegates here at the Convention – were called back to Sacramento to deal with budget deliberations this morning. This call apparently caught us a bit off-guard, as the leadership scurried to replace the PLEO’s with alternate delegates like me<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I got a call at about 2 pm from California Democratic Party Chair Art Torres asking me to report as quickly as possible to the Denver Sheraton. Although I was on the other side of downtown, heading towards the Pepsi Center, I hopped on a bus and got back to the hotel in 10 minutes. I cast my vote for Obama, picked up a new Delegate credential, and headed directly back to the Pepsi Center.<\/p>\n

Apparently my journey was more successful than other alternate delegates, because when California was called for roll call, we still had a number of alternates that had not yet voted, so we passed.<\/p>\n

The final California tally: 273 delegates for Barack Obama, 166 for Hillary Clinton.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
