By golly, don’t know how this happened, but somehow we overlooked endorsing Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval for judge when we compiled Fog City Journal’s premier endorsements<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n

He’s running against incumbent Judge Thomas Mellon, a Republican, who was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson in 1994.<\/p>\n

Sandoval, who terms out of office this year, cited a “lack of diversity on the bench” when he announced in January<\/a> he would challenge Mellon.<\/p>\n

Though his votes on the Board of Supervisors have on occasion raised some eyebrows, overall Sandoval has been a solid defender of Progressive values which has earned him our endorsement for judge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
