A legend in his own time, Assemblymember-elect Tom Ammiano ended his record breaking 14-year term on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, 11/25/08. His accomplishments are too numerous to list, but everyone who came to know Tom’s spirit, his love, kindness, and his unmatched sense of humor, will miss his presence on the board greatly.

As Supervisor Sean Elsbernd poignantly said while Tom was being showered with accolades by his former colleagues on the board: “The Board of Supervisors without Tom Ammiano is like the Vatican without the Pope.” We couldn’t agree more.

Come back to San Francisco soon, Tom. The mayoralty is all yours in 2011.
