Mayor Gavin Newsom has just announced he will swear in San Francisco’s new District Attorney today at 2 pm at City Hall.
Though Newsom has not indicated who has accepted the appointment to replace former DA Kamala Harris, insiders believe Assistant District Attorney Paul Henderson is the likely appointee.
Update, 1:25 pm: CBS5 is reporting SFPD Police Chief George Gascon will be named by Newsom to replace Harris.

P.S.@Robert; thnx; didn’t notice that till after I’d posted the KPFA News. I wrote to ask Anthony Fest who told him this was legally questionable. Even if it is, there’s likely to be overwhelming legal muscle and budget on the other side.

KPFA News reported this evening that the appointment might be legally questionable because Newsom’s maneuver, staying her to control the mayoral and DA succession, was legally questionable.
