Please join us for an afternoon celebrating the life of former kick-ass Ethics Commission staffer and then kick-ass Commissioner Joe Lynn.
As you may know, Joe is facing difficult health challenges.
Joe and his friends and colleagues plan to gather at Tacqueria Reina’s at 1550 Howard Street/Lafayette on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 1 pm.
Joe Lynn was the campaign finance and budget officer of the San Francisco Ethics Commission from 1998 to 2003. From 2003 to 2006, he served as one of the five Ethics Commissioners. The Bay Guardian called him “a leading voice for reform,” and the San Francisco Examiner called him “the backbone of the Ethics Commission.”
While a staff member on the Ethics Commission, he received numerous awards and has been a speaker at many conferences on Good Government. He maintains an active interest in good government laws and has been an oft-contributor for several publications, including the San Francisco Bay Guardian, The Examiner, Beyond Chron and Fog City Journal.

Hey, guys! Friday afternoon’s event is in the restaurant that I live above. But I’m making plans to move to a hospice soon, so I thought we should take advantage of the space now and get a crowd together.
I want everyone there, even those with cooties. I want the Committee on Jobs to sit down with the progocialytes, neighbors, and buddies. I don’t want anyone thinking it’s an occasion to proselytize. Most of the folks are too old for that. I do want to see as many as possible so that over the next few months I have less to worry about in terms of reaching out to folks and thanking them for the opportunities that they gave me to serve, particularly after some of the detours that AIDS put in the way of my generation.
Here’s to you.
