Though none of the D6 frontrunner candidates want to be on record, the campaigns for Jane Kim and Debra Walker have indicated they will not be participating in Supervisor Chris Daly’s Progressive Primary.
Jim Meko, who now stands to be benefit from the Primary, remains on the fence, but is expected to announce his intentions soon, perhaps as late as one minute before the Thursday, June 17, 12:00 pm deadline.
With his proven ability to win campaigns against well-financed candidates, Supervisor Daly believes whomever wins his Primary on July 17 will win the D6 contest in November with his support.
Insiders are now shifting the conversation towards a ‘candidates collaborative’ whereby each of the Progressive front-runner candidates agrees to maximize the opportunities presented by ranked-choice-voting. This includes not going negative on each other and recommending second and third place votes to their Progressive challengers.
