Glide Memorial Church held its ‘Senior Holiday Social’ in Freedom Hall Tuesday, providing seniors in the community an opportunity to join together for a free turkey lunch, live music, raffles, prizes and more.

Glide, a safe and loving community for homeless and marginalized people in the Bay Area, has been providing homelessness assistance, daily meals, healthcare services and more to people in need for over 40 years. Glide provides unconditional love and support to anyone in need and is a leading organization for social justice in San Francisco.

With a generous $300,000 donation from Wells Fargo bank, Glide is able to support the programs that aim to benefit and transform the lives of everyone who is a part of the Glide family.

Executive Vice President of Wells Fargo’s San Francisco Bay Area region, Michael Billeci, said Glide and Wells Fargo share the same vision and values. He said both organizations share a responsibility “to help build strong communities.”

Wells Fargo has partnered with Glide for over 25 years helping to provide services like the senior luncheon as well as providing housing through low market rate financing. Janice Mirikitani, Glide’s founding president, said Glide “applauds Wells Fargo for investing in our community and improving the lives of the marginalized.”

The holiday season is particularly busy time for Glide. Glide will host several holiday events and celebrations this month including its Old Navy Kids Shopping Spree (December 12), Grocery Bag Giveaway (December 18), Toy Giveaway (December 21), Prime Rib Luncheon and Dinner (December 24), Christmas Breakfast (December 25) and Fight Hunger Bowl (December 27).

Volunteers are always welcome and very much appreciated.

More information about Glide and its holiday calendar is available at its website, www.glide.org.
