Here’s a new feature at Fog City Journal where we take one really boring speech, set it to music, and see if the added music can make a video more interesting.

This week: San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and District Attorney Kamala Harris listen to Police Chief Heather Fong drone on about gun violence reduction initiatives. The 10-minute speech-a-thon has been cut to 3 minutes and 44 seconds and set to Fiona Apple’s “Extraordinary Machine.”

Elaine Santore was born in San Francisco during the awesome '80s. She spent a considerable amount of her childhood around City employees, all of whom taught her the value of pretending to be productive. After graduating from Saint Ignatius College Preparatory, she transferred schools three times but eventually received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in Psychology, with a double minor in Political Science and Textiles, Clothing and Design.
