Even before the Supreme Court’s ruling on Thursday to uphold the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, California has been expanding health care coverage to the uninsured under a program called “Bridge to Reform.”

Latino voters have a chance to influence the outcome for president in at least 24 states. The top ten states with high concentrations of potential Latino voters are California, Texas, New York, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, New Mexico, Virginia, and Nevada. In 2008, Democrats won California, New York, Florida, Colorado, New Mexico, and Virginia.

Under Obamacare, starting in 2014, all new health plans sold to individuals and small businesses will be required to cover maternity and newborn care, services explicitly listed in the law as “essential health benefits” that health plans must provide.
