    Don’t for a moment believe David Chiu’s claim that there’s little difference in the “shades of blue [Democrats]” between he and David Campos. Nor should you believe observers who ludicrously claim that there’s very little difference in the voting records of Chiu and Campos.

    National Basketball Association Commissioner Adam Silver has banned Los Angeles Clipper’s owner Donald Sterling for life, fined him $2.5 million, and will urge the board of governors to force a sale of the team following the publication of a recorded conversation between Sterling and his ex-mistress, V. Stiviano, during which Sterling made racist comments.

  • Senator Leno, Mayor Lee Announce Legislation to Arrest Speculative Evictions in San Francisco

    Senator Mark Leno today joined San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, other elected officials, tenant advocates, labor groups and business leaders to introduce legislation closing a loophole in the Ellis Act that allows speculators to buy rent-controlled buildings in San Francisco and immediately begin the process of evicting long-term renters.

  • City of San Bruno Sues CPUC Over Refusal to Release Public Records

    The City of San Bruno filed a lawsuit in Superior Court against the California Public Utilities Commission yesterday demanding the release of public records related to the September 2010 PG&E pipeline explosion in San Bruno. CPUC’s refusal to release the records is indicative of a cover up of its “cozy relationship” with the the utility, the lawsuit states.
