SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - San Francisco police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who crashed a car into a Sunset district home late Wednesday, a police operations officer reported.

Police received reports of a shooting in the area 29th Avenue and Santiago Street at around 11:30 p.m., the officer said.

Responding officers were soon alerted to the 2200 block of Santiago Street where a car had collided with a home.

A small fire that ignited in the home and in the vehicle was quickly extinguished, but emergency crews were not able to revive the driver of the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Police believe the driver was a victim of the reported shooting and continue to investigate the incident this morning.
