SANTA ROSA (BCN) - Santa Rosa police said the body of missing Stanford student Mengyao "May'' Zhou was found in the trunk of her Toyota Corolla in a parking lot at Santa Rosa Junior College this morning and that items found in the trunk indicate she "may have committed suicide.''

The Sonoma County coroner's office said an autopsy will be conducted tomorrow morning. Santa Rosa police said they have been in contact with the Zhou family.

Late today, an official from Stanford University said they are deferring questions about Zhou to Santa Rosa police.

"We continue to offer our full support and prayers to the Zhou family," according to part of a university statement attributed to Greg Boardman, vice provost for student affairs.
