SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - San Francisco police were called to Pier 96 Monday evening after someone discovered what was reported as a "suspected explosive device,'' according to a police spokeswoman.

The spokeswoman said police were called to a business at the pier around 5:45 p.m. after workers found the device, which turned out to be a hand grenade.

The Police Department's bomb squad confiscated the hand grenade without incident, according to the spokeswoman.

No one was injured by the device.
