SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - The San Francisco Police Department is looking for a red Chevrolet Camaro with a black top in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a man with life threatening injuries on Wednesday.

At about 11:49 a.m., an unidentified 28-year-old man was crossing Brannan Street mid-block between Fifth and Sixth streets when the Camaro hit him, police said.

Police originally reported the collision was fatal, but today said the man survived.

Police are advising auto glass and body shops to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle, the windshield of which was smashed in the crash.

According to police, the Camaro was last seen turning south onto Fifth Street from eastbound Brannan Street. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call the hit-and-run division at (415) 553-9516 or the Police Department's confidential tip line at (415) 575-4444.
