Gaskin interviews Ma on renter protections and Ellis Act evictions

May 25, 2006

Sup. Fiona Ma, who is running for state Assembly, last week sat down with Open House Radio with show host Tim Gaskin for a head-to-head interview. What she says she’s doing to protect renters and rental units in San Francisco and her stand on Ellis Act evictions will surprise you.

More than 500 rental units are being taken off the market each year by building owners who want to take back their property, mostly with the use of the Ellis Act, a state law designed to help property owners who want to get out of the rental business.

Ma is a strong supporter for increasing homeownership opportunities and is in favor of maximizing the number of homes for sale on the market which she has made a centerpiece of her campaign.

Listen to Open House Radio at 960 AM, The Quake, 8pm Saturday, May 27 and 8am Sunday, May 28, 2006. Open House is hosted by Tim Gaskin & real estate expert Paul Corso.
