SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - An elderly man is dead after being struck and trapped under a motorized cable car in San Francisco's Chinatown Tuesday, according to the San Francisco Medical Examiner.

The accident, on the corner of Stockton and Jackson streets, was reported just before 3 p.m., according to Lt. Mindy Talmadge of the San Francisco Fire Department.

"We responded to find a very elderly gentleman under the bus. He was stabilized and en route to San Francisco General Hospital within about nine minutes," Talmadge said.

The investigation has been turned over to the San Francisco Police Department.

"There were witnesses, so police are collecting all that information," Talmadge said.

No arrest has been made in connection with the accident, according to police.
