Newsom campaign releases details of Alex Tourk separation agreement

Statement from the Newsom for Mayor Campaign

February 7, 2007 8:04 p.m.

Newsom re-election attorney Jim Sutton released the following statement on a voluntary agreement with Alex Tourk:

Jim Sutton said, “Gavin Newsom made a personal commitment to Alex Tourk that Alex would not suffer financially from resigning his job with the campaign. The Mayor told Alex that he would be paid until he found a new job.

“Campaign finance law is unclear on this issue, so Gavin Newsom has decided the simplest and most appropriate way to fulfill his commitment is to personally pay any remaining salary owed to Alex.”

“There is no confidentiality agreement and no need for one.” said Sutton.

Tourk has not been paid any money from the Newsom re-election campaign since he resigned. Newsom will pay Alex his salary until Alex secures his next job.
