OAKLEY (BCN) - The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent homicide after the discovery Wednesday night of the body of a 14-year-old girl in her Oakley home, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said today.

The body was found at a home in the 2200 block of El Lago Drive, Lee said, and the girl was pronounced dead shortly after she was discovered.

The sheriff's office was notified about the incident Wednesday around 6 p.m.

The victim was a student at Deer Valley High School in Antioch.

Lee believes she was in the 9th grade.

An autopsy on the girl is scheduled for later today.
