Mayor Newsom marks passing
of Tanya Neiman

Longtime social justice advocate

From the Mayor's Office of Communications

February 27, 2006

"Today, February 27, 2006, the City of San Francisco grieves the passing of Tanya Neiman.

"We extend our condolences to Brett Mangels, Tanya's beloved partner for 24 years.

"Tanya was a leader in the social justice and poverty law movement and family and friend of many.

"San Francisco has lost a great humanitarian and altruist who dedicated her life to improving the lives of all people, especially the disadvantaged.

"To honor Tanya, the City Hall flags will be flown at half-mast."
