Pedestrian struck by Muni train

Bay City News

January 4, 2008

A San Francisco Municipal Railway K line train struck a pedestrian this morning while traveling inbound, just outside of West Portal Station, according to a Muni spokesman.

The accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. in West Portal on 14th avenue, just outside the West Portal Muni Station, said spokesman Alan Siegel. He said trains at the station are backed up and delays are indefinite. The condition of the pedestrian is unknown and he said police are starting an investigation.

A witness who was traveling outbound on a separate train said she saw the stopped inbound K line train, where it struck the pedestrian.

She saw fire trucks, police cars and an ambulance but as far as she could tell, the pedestrian had been under the train for at least ten minutes.
