Fatal shooting close to school, City Hall

San Francisco police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead near Civic Center last night.

The shooting took place on the north side Ellis Street between Franklin and Gough streets across from Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, according to Sgt. Steve Mannina.

Two shooters allegedly approached the victim at about 8:20 p.m., shot the victim and fled on foot, Mannina said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
